5 quick tips for a clearer menu
Small changes to structure and wording that make your menu easier to read — and easier to order from.

A good menu is more than a list of dishes. Here are five things that often have the biggest impact without a full redesign.
1. Group logically
Split into clear sections — starters, mains, desserts — and keep the number of headings manageable. Guests should find what they need in a few seconds.
2. Write short descriptions
One line about ingredients is often enough. Avoid long blocks that are heavy to read on a phone.
3. Mark allergens consistently
Use the same symbols or abbreviations everywhere, and explain them in a footnote. That builds trust and reduces questions to staff.
4. Update prices immediately
Outdated prices create frustration. Connect your menu to a system where you can change quickly — especially for lunch or happy hour.
5. Ask for feedback
Ask front-of-house where guests get stuck — that is often where the next improvement is.
