Creating your weekly menu

Build a weekly lunch menu with daily and standing dishes, then save it ready to publish.

Your weekly menu is the heart of Menju. This guide walks you through building one from start to finish — picking the week, adding your dishes, and saving it so it's ready to schedule and show on your website.

Before you start: you need a restaurant connected to your account. If you haven't set one up yet, see Getting started first.

Step 1 — Choose the week

The menu builder opens with the current week already selected. Use the week navigation to jump to a previous or upcoming week before you start adding dishes.

Each restaurant can have one menu per week. If you want to reuse last week's dishes, you can copy an existing menu instead of starting from scratch.

Step 2 — Add the menu details

  • Menu name (required) — a short label for your own reference, e.g. "Lunch week 20".
  • Description (optional) — a brief note or marketing line shown with the menu, e.g. "Fresh, seasonal dishes and local favourites."

Step 3 — Pick the days your menu runs

Tick the weekdays this menu applies to (Monday through Sunday). You only add dishes for the days you select, so a Monday–Friday lunch menu stays clean and uncluttered.

Alongside the days you'll see a Standing dishes area. Standing dishes are available every day — think house classics, sides, or drinks — and appear under each day on your published menu, so you only enter them once.

Step 4 — Add your dishes

For each selected day, and for standing dishes, add one or more dishes. Every dish has:

FieldRequiredExample
Dish nameYesBeef stew with mashed potato
DescriptionNoSlow-cooked, served with lingonberries
PriceNo129

To change the order dishes appear in, drag and drop them into place — the order you set is the order your guests see.

Daily dishes vs. standing dishes

  • Daily dishes ("dish of the day") belong to a single weekday.
  • Standing dishes repeat under every active day automatically.

Step 5 — Create the menu

The Create menu button stays disabled until you've added at least one dish somewhere in the menu. Once you click it, Menju saves your menu as a draft and takes you to the scheduling step, where you decide when it goes live.

Good to know

  • One menu per week, per restaurant. This keeps your published menu unambiguous.
  • Changing the week clears your draft. If you switch weeks after adding dishes, Menju asks you to confirm, because the current draft will be cleared.
  • Dates and times follow your restaurant's locale and time zone, so the right menu shows on the right day for your guests.
