Designing your menu
Control how your published menu looks — layout, colours, fonts, images, and animations.
The Design your menu screen is where you decide how your published menu looks to guests. Everything you change is shown instantly in a live preview next to the editor, so you can see exactly what your guests will see.
Note: saving your design requires administrator access to the restaurant — see Managing your restaurant & team.
How the screen works
- Left — Preview. A live rendering of your real menu that updates as you change settings. Use the week selector in the toolbar to preview a different week.
- Right — Design Components. The editor, split into four sections: Layout & Structure, Visual Style, Images, and Animations.
The toolbar also gives you Undo, Reset Settings, Templates, Share Menu, Save As Template, and Save. On smaller screens the preview and editor stack vertically.
Layout & Structure

| Dish layout | How each dish's name, description, and price are arranged — Inline, Name + Price, or Stacked |
| Text alignment | Align all text elements at once, or switch on Customize individually to set each separately |
| Menu heading | A free-text heading for your menu, e.g. "Today's Lunch" |
| Day header | Toggle Show Date and pick a date format (dd/mm, Jan 25th, yy-mm-dd, or dd/mm/yy) |
| Price display | Toggle Show currency and pick a format — kr, SEK, :-, kronor, or your own custom text |
| Menu selection | Show a Single Week Menu, or Multiple weeks with a navigation style |
If you choose Multiple weeks, guests can browse between weeks using one of four navigation designs — Drop Down, Cards, Arrows, or Tabs — each with its own colour settings.
Visual Style

Colours — the menu Background color and the Close-Button Color.

Dividers — turn on a Dish Divider and/or a Day Divider, each with its own colour, style (solid, dashed, dotted), width, and height.

Margins — spacing from the top, bottom, left, and right.

Frame — a border around the menu: style, width, and colour.

Typography — style eight text elements independently. Each has its own colour, text style (font), text size, and text thickness:

Images
You can set three images, one per role:

Upload your own in SVG, PNG, JPG, or GIF, or keep the default images every new restaurant starts with. Choosing a new image for a slot replaces the previous one.
Animations
Control how the menu appears when a guest opens it:
- Effect — Slide Up, Slide In (from the left), Fade, or Grow In.
- Speed — Slow, Medium, or Fast.
- Use the play button to replay the animation in the preview and see how it feels.
Templates
- Templates opens a catalog with two tabs: Your Templates (designs you've saved) and Menju's built-in templates. Pick one and click Select to apply its full styling, images, animation, and navigation settings.
- Save As Template saves your current design under a Template Name so you can reuse it.
Plan limit: you can save one template on the free plan. Saving more requires Menju Pro — see Plans & billing.
Good to know
- Undo (and Reset Settings) let you step back safely while experimenting.
- Menju warns you if you navigate away with unsaved changes.
- Your design applies to the menu wherever it appears — including the pop-up dialog on your website.
